A long, thin tail twitched absently, tip flickering across a sleek black side. Golden eyes scanned the pond, picking out nestling ducks and clutches of large ducklings waddling around. His head dropped onto his forepaws as they kneaded the ground. A duck was finally venturing towards him.
His tail lifted high into the air where it waved, tip visible above the blades of grass. His rump wiggled and lifted as he prepared to pounce. The half-wit duck waddled closer, unaware of its immediate danger.
Just... One... More... Now! He let out a triumphant yowl and launched himself out of the grass and on top of the duck. The water fowl let out a squawk of surprise, then his fangs bit through the bird's neck and it went limp.
Wingfang lifted his head proudly and looked around. Now where that little rogue get to? he wondered, looking about for the apprentice he thought he'd brought along. He never really knew any more...
For Starclan's sake! I feel so old! He groaned through a mouthful of feathers. Releasing the duck, he seized it by its back and began dragging it into the rushes.

Sparrowpaw tenced her backlegs as she tryed to jump at a duck. She saw the bird get up and she jumped. She missed and the bird being much bigger than her pecked her and she yowled and ran off.

He watched her, bemused. "Sparrowpaw," he yowled. "Over here!" He grabbed the duck again and, hefting it, padded towards her, somehow managing not to stumbling over the fowl.
He dropped his prey again and bounded several feet over to her. "Come on, Sparrowpaw--duck bites don't hurt that bad. Want to try again?" His tail waved in the air proudly, though it made him look rather kitten-ish.

Sparrowpaw hissed at the duck and it flew off in a hurry, "How do you do that?" she asked. Amazed of how he could so easily kill a duck. She shook her head in a daze, comeing back into reality. She meowed exitedly, "Ya, I want to try again!"

"Patience," he said with a purr of amusement. "Wait for the duck to come to you--then jump on him! Then bite his throat, just like with mice, and be sure to break his neck." He thrashed his tail happily. His apprentice made him proud--he wanted to find something to make her proud of herself. It took practice to take down ducks; he was going to make sure she had bragging rights!

Sparrowpaw nodded and crouched into the reeds, she saw the duck and waited. The stupid duck walked closer and she lept out of the reeds, the duck cawed but its caw was cut short when she grabbed its neck, the large bird thrashed and wiggled out of her grasp and flew off. She sighed, "I'll never get it right."

He purred and padded over to her, sitting down beside her. "Ah, don't worry. That was good! You just gotta find the windpipe faster and bite down harder. I gues I have an advantage with my double fangs." He curled one lip up away from his double fangs, 'grinning.' "Anyway--let's go scare the ducks!" He wiggled playfully.

She smiled and jumped up, "Alright!" her eyes brightened. She jumped into a group of ducks sending them flying every witch way. She desided to try to get one again she saw one fly by, and lashed out with her teeth and claws she bit its neck and clawed it with her back legs, the duck went limp and blood and feathers were everywere.

Wingfang yowled proudly and went bounding over to her, scatterng ducks as he did. "Well done, Sparrowpaw! Well done!" he meowed, tail waving as he gave her forehead a lick. "Let's get these back to the fresh kill pile now!"

A weird feeling went through her body when he licked her. She picked up her mutilated kill, and followed her mentor through the forest. Wow my FIRST duck she thought to herself, she swished her tail and saw a mouse out if the corner of her eye. She crouched set the duck down and killed it in one blow. She picked up the duck and when trying to pick up the mouse, it was apparently to much wight. She fell over and dropped the duck.

He chuckled, holding his duck by its nape and watching her. Dropping the duck again, he snagged the mouse with one claw. He held its tail then grabbed the duck again, waving his tail at her as he turned and trotted towards the clan camp again.

She smiled and grabbed her duck by the neck and followed behind. She was SOOO proud she got her first duck. None of the other appretacies have killed a duck yet! Some warriors could not even catch a duck! She grinned as she walked into camp carring a duck.

He waved his tail proudly and padded over to the fresh kill pile, dropping the mouse and water fowl then stepping back so she could follow suit. "Silverstar will be very proud," he meowed, purring.

She grinned and said through a mouth full of feathers, "You really think so?!" she droped the duck and spat out the feathers.

Silverstar saw the two cats at the fresh kill pile and meowed, "I see you caught your first duck Sparrowpaw, great job." she smiled warmy, "Would you guys mind going to get more prey we are very short."

Sparrowpaw glowed with pride and swished her tail.

"Of course, Silverstar," he purred, bobbing his head. He turned quickly, however, and went bounding away, yowling for Sparrowpaw to follow; he was in a good mood, but sounded rather ill-tempered to anyone who didn't know him better. He was gone before anyone else in the clan could see him; he didn't like anyone noticing how active he was. It'd just be annoying.
