Sorrelpaw looked at her mentor and then at her paws. She never liked embarresment, to herself, and now to her mentor. She dropped her shoulders and sat down with a sad face. She didn't even want to tackle Sparrowpaw.

He barely stopped himself from falling over, though he did stumble backwards. "Snowdrift!" he mewed. "Who throws ducks at their Clanmates!?" He gave her a look, though his eyes were laughing. He flicked his tail through the air impatiently, then offered, "Shall we hunt together? Train the two of them?" He flicked his tail over Sparrowpaw's head absently, proud of the snake she held.

"Sure!" she laughed. "we could have a contest of who can catch the most prey!"

Sparrowpaw nodded happily, "ya we will win!"

Sorrelpaw looked up smiling. She was expert on finding and catching mice, and vole. "Yah." she said jumpig up to stand on her feet.

"Alright. Where are we hunting?" he mewed, tail waving above him--the only sign of his excitement. His back rippled, skin prickling, and his 'wings' danced. This promised to be fun, and he knew the apprentices would enjoy it.

Snowdrift meowed, " anywere in the territory, we must follow our apprentices but but hunt or help them, you can talk. When the moon first comes we will come back."

Sparrowpaw nodded in agreement

Sorrelpaw also nodded in agreement and kept herself from bouncing up and down. This was going to be her game. She knew all the best places for mice.

He purred. "Deal. Sparrowpaw--where do you want to hunt?" He turned to flick his tail at her. "You've got till moon-up! Let's win!" he meowed and went bounding off again, though only a short ways; he took his vow of silence and stopped to wait for her, tail flicking above the grass.

She ran up to him and stopped skidding in the mud. Her pelt tured all brown covering her stripes. This was a method Reedclan cats used, covering their sents with mud and camoflageing with it. She stuck leafs and reeds to her pelt makeing her look like a moveing blob. (oh the menotors CAN talk but not help) she saw a small mouse and jumped at it with perfection killing it.

Sorrelpaw stalked in the other direction as soon as she smelt a vole. She wagged her tail slowley preparing and pounced making a perfect kill. She buried the vole and went off after another kill..

He mewed to her, "Good. Now lead the way--I'll just be your shadow." He waved his tail high in the air, wondering what she planned on hunting. Logically, hunting mice would probably be faster since we didn't establish if bigger things were worth more. But, I've been teaching her to hunt large game for efficiency, and hunting smaller game in between... Hmm... This could also be a bit of a test. We mentors can see what our apprentices lack, but give them a chance to correct their mistake on their own... Good.

Sparrowpaw sented the air and looked to the right, there was a large racer she burryed the mouse and waited. The large snake slithered closer, probely smelling the mouse, and she lept at it biteing its neck, only her second time hunting a snake and she did it right. She held it up proudly and burryed it.

Sorrelpaw heard a rabbit eating some greens closebuy and stalked it. She peered over another green and leaped biting the rabbit in the neck killing it instantly. She buried it and instantly a vole walked right next to her. Must be blind, she thought, and killed it and buried too. Next to the rabbit.

Wingfang's tail thrashed, pleased, and he narrowed his eyes as he waited. Well done, little rat-stalker, he thought affectionately, though where he'd gotten 'rat-stalker' was beyond the comprehension of most creatures in the family felinus. I must be doing something right!

Snowdrift purred, "Great job" and licked her ear.
