Sparrowpaw sprinted behind keeping up with him. She saw his deep eyes filled with joy. She turned away and asked, "What are we going to hunt?" she saw the forest wizz by in a green and brown blur.

"Your choice--snakes or sparrows?" he asked, seeming bemused by the 'sparrow' option. Cannibalistic Sparrowpaw. "I spotted a 'racer nest down near the duck pond, we can try around there. But there's also quite a few sparrows roosting in and around the willow." His whiskers twitched and he gave her a questioning look.

She murrowed in laughter at the sparrow comment, "I have never tryed snakes." she purred, "I bet you could teach me to be the best at catching anything." her eyes were alight at the thought of more alone-time with her mentor. Why am I happy about that she thought pondering the question as she followed him.

He nodded, purring out a chuckle. "Snakes it is. Come on; that racer's a big one, so he'll be hunting now. We can grab some mice on the way." He slowed down so he was padding silently through the trees, mouth opening to enhale the scents of the forest as his ears swiveled.

She asked, "how do you catch a racer?" she looked around the wonderful reeds. There were birds cawing, and the rustle of mice. She took the aroma of the water and WindFang.

Windfang lunged, pressing his paw onto a mouse and snapping its back, ending its struggle before it started. "A lot like catching a duck. You've heard what the other warriors and apprentices say about me, right? That I'm a slacker? I just lay around all day? Well, when I'm laying around on a sunny rock, I'm waiting for snakes to come by and join me--just like when we lay in the reeds and wait for ducks. But, with snakes, you have to make sure to get close enough to their heads that they can't bite you. 'Racers aren't venomous, so we'll be fine. But adders--those are deadly. You'll have to perfect 'racers before you get adders." He purred his amusement, then twisted his head around to show a bare patch of skin just under his ear with two small dots healing there.
"Don't tell anyone, but I've got an immunity. I've been bitten so many times, I've got my own anti-venom. But this doesn't happen often, so don't go trying anything like that, alright?" He flicked his tail as he turned his head away again, fur covering the bite again.
{{ In case you were wondering, Wingfang's based on a cat I had when I was real little. XD His name was Fang and he literally got bit by so many snakes that he developed an immunity. And yes; he had double fangs. ^^ }}

Sparrowpaw nodded, " They say you are a slacker, but I tell them you are not. That's amazeing I promice Ill not try that. Does the bite hurt?" she asked consurnedly. She nodded that she understood how to catch them.

"Yeah, it's alright. They're welcome to say what they want." He gave something that resembled a shrug. "The bite's fine; it's a little stiff, but nothing hazardous. If a 'racer bites you, I'd advise biting that spot, hard but don't make it bleed. Just hold it until we can get some herbs and cobweb on there." He buried the mouse deftly, watching her out of the corner of his green and blue-flecked eyes.

She nodded and saw a small racer, she lowered herself on her belly and waited.

"A duck." Sorrelpaw repeated. She loved the taste of duck. But usually, it was to big for her and she had to share it with a few other apprentices.

He sat back, watching in amusement. Guess I should've told her how to actually catch them... Hope she doesn't think snakes are as stupid as ducks! His eyes scanned the area around them automatically, cautious as ever. Hm... I need to find that old badger burrow and show it to her, get her used to the smell. Guess I'll find the fox's too, while we're at it. His tail twitched, though not enough to alert the snake. Heh. I'm the only cat in ReedClan who has to worry about a snake thinking my tail is one of them! He 'grinned' at that thought. It was exceptionally amusing.

Sparrowpaw saw a racer slither up closer, closer then... she lept at it biteing its neck area killing it instantly, she tryed her best to show off to Windfang. "WINDFANG! I did it!"She mowed.

Snowdrift stopped infront of the Duck pond, "This" she meowed "Is were most ducks are found, at the duck pond hece the name" she purred ,"to catch a duck you bite its neck blocking its airflow. But for smaller cats you bite the neck and atach yourself, useing your teeth and front paws. Meanwhile you claw at it with your hind legs" she saw the duck and sprinted out and lept on it biteing its neck. The duck went limp in her powerful jaws. "like that" she meowed.

"Okay." Sorrelpaw said. She looked around for another duck. She leaped after one as soon as she saw one. But, she did not calculate the distance from which the duck sat and it flew out of her reach just before she cought it. Sorrelpaw didn't see where she was going, she was looking after the duck, and slipped into the pond. she walked out of it wet and cold with her fur dangling down like a wet dog's.

He purred, tail waving. "Well done," he mewed and stood, ears and head swiveling towards the duck pond. He listened, then scented. Meowing in amusement, he trotted off. "Bring the snake--you can show it off to Sorrelpaw." He absently beckoned to her with his tail as he focused on being quiet, intending to sneak up on the other cats. He dropped into a crouch as they near the pond and crawled slowly through the reeds.
He saw Sorrelpaw then, knowing he couldn't resist laughing--he always thought drenched cats looked like drowned rats, which seemed ironic--flung himself out of the rushes with a yowl, dropping to the ground in front of the apprentice and her duck-wielding mentor.

Sparrowpaw giggled as the cats jumped, she followed behind her mentor.

Snowdrift, startled, threw the duck at Windfang, hitting him square in the face.
